Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent destination, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of controls requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat gambling den, features one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel complex that contains a number of comforts aside from the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and 88 tables.
